Ballroom Theory & Practice: Privileges, History, Performance | with Phenix | Workshop im Rahmen der IWGR 2025

Was ist Ballroom und kannst du einfach mitmachen? Wir werden die Geschichte und Entwicklung der Ballroom-Kultur erforschen, die in den 1960er Jahren in der Schwarzen und Braunen LGBTQIA*-Community von Harlem (NYC) entstand. In diesem Workshop werden wir etwas über die Struktur, die Grundlage und die Entwicklung von Ballroom lernen, einschließlich der Kunstform Vogue. Wir werden auch über Privilegien, die eigene Position im Ballroom und dessen Bedeutung für das eigene Leben sprechen. Der Workshop ist kostenlos und offen für alle, die etwas über die Ballroom-Kultur und -Community erfahren möchten.

What is Ballroom and can you just join? We will explore the history and development of Ballroom culture, which originated in the 1960s in Harlem's (NYC) Black and Brown LGBTQIA* community. In this workshop, we will learn about the structure, foundation, and evolution of Ballroom, including the art form of Vogue. We will also discuss privileges, your position in Ballroom, and its relevance to your life. The workshop is free and open to anyone interested in learning about Ballroom culture and community.
